I was summonsed for jury duty a few weeks ago. I mailed the notice back saying I've been out of Austin for at least 30 days. Does anyone know who I should contact to make sure the letter was received? I don't want to have a warrant out for my arrest for not showing up or something crazy like that. |

Oh, this is going to be my first ever posted recon! :D Yay! So, if you are a huge Batman fangirl/boy, like me, you might know about whysoserious.com. It was a cool game going on for the last year to advertise The Dark Knight. Earlier this year, a site came around related to the game: citizensforbatman.org, which I thought was awesomely cheesey. It was then decided that I would not survive without a shirt of my own to support Batman. Current Mood: jubilant |

WTF, No TWC deals? I currently have Grande for internet and cable and love it. Unfortunately, we're moving to a place that only offers the (shitty) option of Time Warner. We're probably going to do without cable since I hate Time Warner and really don't want to give them more of my money than needed, but I have to have internet because I'm starting an online business. I tried to talk down the price, as most people succeed in doing, but the guy didn't offer me any kind of deals when I asked what specials were going on, other than a discount for locking into a year of service (yeah right).
Am I not using the right lingo? Has anyone gotten a good deal with them recently, or are they now not offering any dealing on their prices? I'm not paying them $45/month for something I pay $30 for (with waaay better customer service, btw) right now, if I can help it. Any tips? |

New Marie Antoinette ORIGINAL Painting, Last Leaves Drawing, etc.... Hi everyone! I have an AWESOME big new painting tonight up for auction (Marie Antoinette!), as well as a new original DRAWING (oswoa sized - the Last Leaves). Very cool stuff! First off is "Marie Masquerade" - a glorious painting - all READY TO HANG - no framing needed. She's likely inspired by my recent artist retreat to France - Marie Antoinette - the doomed queen, dressed with her over-the-top glory - sailing ship hair adornment - magnificent hairstyle, lush makeup and her not-very-concealing masquerade mask! I love this painting, it really looks awesome in person. It is an original acrylic painting on GALLERY STYLE CRADLED MASONITE - Matt has added a hanger on the back, so it is READY TO HANG! No frame needed! Basically it's like masonite, but with deep wooden sides, known as "gallery style." Of course you can always add a frame if you want (gallery profile), but she looks awesome by herself too. I've painted the wooden sides a glossy black, so it looks pretty sharp. This really is a lovely painting - and she is up on eBay starting at just ONE PENNY with no reserve for a 7-Day auction ending the evening of Thursday, July 31st at 7:23PM Central Time. You can see her below, click on the sneak preview to see the details: Click HERE to see my "Marie Masquerade" 16x20 ORIGINAL PAINTINGNext up - due to popular demand - another lovely original drawing in the OSWOA™ size (4"x6"). This is an ORIGINAL DRAWING, not a print of any kind. It is pencil & charcoals on toned cardstock, is 4"x6" and is absolutely beautiful. When I was in France I spent a good deal of time drawing, and realized how much I enjoy it. So here we have a "The Last Leaves Drawing" - up on eBay for a 7-Day auction ending the evening of Thursday, July 31st at 7:00PM Central Time. Click on the thumbnail image below to see the entire drawing: Click HERE to see my new "The Last Leaves Drawing" ORIGINAL DRAWING To see all of my current ORIGINAL pieces, click below: Jasmine's Originals Enjoy! I've got to go, a TON of orders & other stuff to get through, Matt & I will be up all night! |

Doe a Deer So, I've been watching a deer carcass rot away for the past few months along the side of the road. In all honesty, I was surprised it stayed there since roadkill crews usually pick up the dead critters and such. I watched it decompose, get scavenged by coyotes, foxes, vultures, etc. It moved a total of 20 feet within a week from being torn and dragged.
Anywho. So I kept eying it and praying that it would still be there when I'd finally get the time and gall to do a bit of my own scavenging. Today was that day, albeit a short chance because I didn't want to linger should any authorities come. So I managed to grab the skull, still with beetles scattered around and in it. It still has dried, decomposed fur and flesh on it. I tried to look up in the memories but didn't find exactly what I needed. So I'm asking now, and I apologize if this annoys anyone [I'm sure it's been asked and answered a lot].
I need to clean this skull. I was wondering the best way to go about it? I've cleaned a cat skull before, by boiling. But due to the size of the deer skull the only chance I'd have a boiling is in my backyard fire pit and a metal camping stew pot. Should I soak it in a solution of some kind, or would boiling be best? If there's other methods I'm open to hearing them, but the soaking in chemical solutions and boiling are the only ones I've really heard of for cleaning off a fleshy skull. |

Display Idea I sell jewelry at my local farmer's market, and I needed an inexpensive way to protect my expensive items from theft so I went to my local pet store and purchased these "critter/reptile" aquariums (less expensive than water-tight aquariums) and turned them on their sides: ( +2 )So far they've been working great, and I think I only paid about $14 each for them! As you can see, I also made a few copper trees on which to display some items as well. And so this post actually includes a craft, here is a little copper and fluorite ring I threw together. I call it my "crystal ball ring": |

Help me please! Here's the deal: I'm a dancer and I'm in Paris for a couple weeks, and I've decided to make a dance for camera work, which means I need a costume pronto! No sewing machine and need to work with the costume to really make the work, so I need it now not later. Here's what I want, exaggeratedly long flowing dress (like 2-3 feet beyond floor length long), a light material that will be a little flowy normally and when wet will be clingy and translucent. The top, I'm not really picky about it--I want simple and feminine and as no sew as possible. I don't care about finished edges on this one, just a basic shape and silhouette, although I'd like to underplay the seems rather than going with a pieced together look. I know it's going to take a lot of fabric to make it full and long, and I'll have to sew long side seams, but I'm not sure of the most efficient way to do the top and I'd prefer not to gather at a defined waistline to create the fullness in the skirt. If you have any tutorials or advice to achieve anything remotely like what I just described, I promise pictures and maybe video once the project is done! (I have ideas of where to go for fabric, but if you have a favorite parisian fabric store, please share!) x-posted Current Mood: bouncy |

Lots of birdfeeder action yesterday and today. Yesterday I saw male cardinal territory wars; today, titmice in great numbers are chirping and stuffing themselves. I love saying that word - titmice titmice titmice. It comes trippingly off the titmouse tongue.
I miss the finches, though, that never come to this apartment's buffet. I miss their singing. |

So I decided to go for the rock. Then Derringer cancelled last minute citing not wanting to stand in the open lawn durning a hurricane to see the Crue. She said about cold and wet and muddy and how she was watching the weather channel and she no longer wanted to go, she had the free tickets. I didn't even consider this and would happily turned ignorance into adventure and went to the show...but you know...easy come easy go.
I once went to see Motorhead, 3 hours from my house, when a blizzard was supposed to hit. And it DID, during AN AWESOME INTIMATE SHOW!, my 8 hour white knuckled drive home was the most scarifying drive of my life. Something about not being able to see the road or at times the sky is messed up. But I survived and it was AWESOME. The next time I saw them, I touched Lemmy's nipple backstage. I fucking love Motorhead. So worth the torture I brought upon myself. But I have digressed.
SO I had time to go to circuit training workouts. And I did! And it was fun. There was lots of jumping. Fearlys is a jump rope rockstar superhero or something. She crosses it over and hops about a zillion different ways and triple whips and stuff. And she looks pretty doing it and it looks easy and fun. I have lost a lot in my easy 20 years of jump roping absense. I hit myself in the ear and other people. I need to practice, I didn't know you had the keeo your elbows in.... who knew? Kelley gave me some tips on how to jump over the cones side to side. I am a jumping idoit, but I got better and cleared a few cones. Did you know you are supposed to use your arms when you jump. You probably did, I did not. Monkey drills were my fav and of course core was fun. I also noticed my increased awesome endurance and stamina when jogging the track.
Then we watched footage of the first game of the season. Wow, I am a fatty. I looked like I was made of loose sausages. Watching footage is hard and boring. Well I have seen it be great. I was not in the mood last night. I mean footage is not Motley Crue. Just sayin'.
Home again for Runway where I totally called the winner and loser like 30 minutes in. I am not sure if I even like anyone on the show this year. I mean there are designers I think are talented but watching them is trying. I hate Suede but I did love his dress. Also I want to vacation with Tim Gunn.
Then I fell asleep watching whatever episode of Rome we are on. Antony and Cleopatra are all kinds of twisted hot and Octavian and his lady are not to bad either. Sweet dreams to me!
My knee is hurty and feels really heavy today. Poo.
Athenian Grill Opened Tuesday. I think we need to go there for dinner (yay!), before seeing Factory Party (yay) at Headhunters (poo).
Tommorrow I work a double (poo)but the second is Wolf Parade at LZR (yay). |
