We saw The Dark Knight last night. Phenomenal, in my humble opinion. Heath Ledger was such a great lunatic. Absolutely great. Is it perverse or strange that I found him strangely hot? Yeah? Good. I think I have a thing about scars and fucked-up-ness. I mean, I only like Brad Pitt in parts where he's all grimy or scarred or somesuch. I'm sick.

Christian Bale is a given. I mean, please. Beautiful man. Jarod was quite annoyed with his voice but good performances all around. Sometimes I can't take Maggie Gyllenhaal seriously as an "attractive" character because her nose is puggy, her eyes are baggy and her posture is ... meh, but I could see her as Rachel for some reason.

Um ... yeah, I lost track of my thoughts but The Dark Knight, good movie.

Nick Cave uses crib notes but I still love him.

I'm a wicked young lady, but I've been trying hard lately
    O fuck it! I'm a monster! I admit it!

Short update. We're at St. Luke's and mom is going for her heart cath sometime between now and 3. She's feeling fine. Just bored.

Thanks so much for all the good wishes and vibes. Keep 'em coming.

Okay, so off I go to the Houston area. My mom has to have a heart cathaterization. Yes I'm freaking out.

    Need some help
Yesterday my mom went to the hospital because she had a case of tachycardia or an irregular, quickened heartbeat. They gave her a drug through IV that got that back to normal. This morning the nurse says there is an enzyme they want to check out and that she needs an ECG. Now, my mother downplays everything so that we won't be anxious but it's so much that we also can't get the real truth.

Does anyone know anything about this stuff?

I think we broke our dog. We got out the laser pointer and he goes nutso chasing it and it's hilarious. BUT, now when it's not on he's constantly looking for the little red dot. He walks around staring at the floor.

    Never cover thy neighbor's ox
This weekend was good. Friday night we had plans to actually do social things but ended up going to dinner and then not much else which was fine by me. We needed a laid back, no stress weekend. Saturday we were lazy mostly. Saturday night we joined John Rubio, his beautiful wife Elizabeth and some really great friends for dinner at the Rubio abode. The food was absolutely phenomenal. His description: "Cochinita Pibil, a slow-roast pork dish from the Yucatán Peninsula. It's succulent, spicy, and delicious. With that, I'll be serving my own version of Tex-Mex rice, fresh guacamole, and a few different garnishes (chopped onions, cilantro, raw jalapeños, and a habanero/onion salsa for the pork )." Seriously. So tasty. Then came the vodka tonics. heh. Diet tonic water, Tito's vodka. How can you go wrong?

Karrie was trying to fall asleep on the couch so of course I humped her head, like you do. There was much talk of art and such. Whilst Mr. Rubio was showing us some of his work on his computer (he's an art director at an ad company here in austin) I noticed his Wacom tablet and expressed how badly I want one but just haven't wanted to spend the money on it quite yet. What does he do? He reaches over and hands me his old one that he kept after upgrading. I nearly fell over. It's a 9x12 Wacom Intuos and it works perfectly. Happy early birthday to me! Anyhoo, check out some of his work here. It's right amazing!

This weekend, Thursday to be exact, we'll be heading to Lake Livingston to camp and fish with my family. I love going there even if it is 800 degrees out. Trying to decide if we're taking both dogs or just Grim since his feeding schedule is different from Cassidy's. Ah, the stresses of dog parentage. I'm sure Grim will have a few squirrel adventures. He loves chasing small furry things.

I just had a bowl of pure joy. I got up, cooked thick sliced, hickory smoked bacon, scrambled eggs IN the bacon drippings, crumbled the bacon, added colby jack cheese and went into a total state of bliss. Ah, protein. How I love thee.

I really, really want toast with butter and mayhaw jelly but I will be strong. Bread + sugary jelly = the devil. But ... it's so good.

I really want a missile silo home. How cool would that be?

    Today's song
    you can hold her hand
and show her how you cry
explain to her your weakness so she understands
and then roll over and die
    or you can brave decisions
    before you crumble up inside
spend your time asking everyone else's permission
    then run away and hide

or you can sit on chimneys
put some fire up your ass
no need to know what you're doing or waiting for
    but if anyone should ask..
tell them i've been lickin' coconut skins
    and we've been hanging out
tell them god just dropped by to forgive our sins
    and relieve us our doubt

    you can hold her eggs
but your basket has a hole
you can lie between her legs and go looking for..
tell her you're searchin' for her soul
or you can wait for ages
watch your compost turn to coal
    but time is contagious
    and everybody's getting old

so you can sit on chimneys
put some fire up your ass
no need to know what you're doing or looking for
    but if anyone should ask..
tell them i've been cookin' coconut skins
    and we've been hanging out
tell them god just dropped by to forgive our sins
    and relieve us our doubt

    coconut skins
    damien rice

In other words, fuck 'em all. Do what you want. No permission, no excuses, no regret. :D

I want to go to the North Pole the top of the earth, build a really tall chair, sit in it and ride the world! 1,000 mph! Yee haw! Heh. Thanks Eddie Izzard.
